Philippine Graphic News Weekly Magazine and the entrepreneurship and leadership organization Junior Chamber International Philippines or Philippine Jaycees launched recently a partnership project, the first-ever Philippine Graphic-Philippine Jaycees National Essay Writing Contest.

Leading the memorandum of agreement signing were Benjamin V. Ramos, president of Philippine Graphic Publications, Inc., and Ismael P. Penado, national president of the Philippine Jaycees.

The contest kicks-off this month and has three categories—high school, college professional. At stake are P 50,000 for the first prize, P 30,000 for the second prize and P 20,000 for the third prize. Philippine Graphic executive editor Adrian Cristobal will head the board of judges. Interested parties may get the contest rules and entry forms from the weekly issues of Philippine Graphic and the Monday issues of Business Mirror newspaper.

The contest will also sponsor a national seminar on writing the essay, or much commonly known today in literary circles as creative nonfiction, in eight cities nationwide in the coming months.
